The Physician’s Health Study I found no link between cardiovascular events and multivitamin use over 12 years in 18,530 men, but contradicted their conclusion by observing a 44% reduction in risk of major cardiovascular events, i.e., heart attack or stroke in those who took a daily multivitamin for 20 years or more!  The kinds and amounts of nutrients in multivitamins vary widely, but typically include vitamins ACDE and KbiotinB vitaminsfolic acid; and minerals.References:  Rautiainen S, Rist PM, Glynn RJ, et al.
